Chapter 10:

The following morning Alice showed up hell bent on helping Bella get ready. She was going to the ceremony with Bella as support in her achievements. As they dressed Alice tried to convince Bella that they needed to go out and celebrate afterwards.

“No Alice I don’t wanna go out.”

“But Bella we should go out and celebrate. You told me how you never really get out much and there isn’t a better time than now.”

“Why are you so obsessed with wanting to go out anyway?”

“Well I kinda met this guy and he asked me to meet him at this dance club. Bella please…please…please can we go? You need this as much as i do! And you know that Edward won’t give a damn either way, now that he has Melissa…”

“How do you even know her name? Never mind. Alice we’re not going out to this club. If you wanna go then go, but I’m gonna come home, cook something delicious, and then curl up with a nice book and fall asleep.”

“You’re hoping to see that dream man again aren’t you? Bella he isn’t real, you have to stop living in this fantasy and get out there and meet a real man.”

“Really Alice.”

“Yes Bella, now don’t make me use the pouty face on you. I don’t wanna go alone to meet this guy in case he is a creepy stalker killer type. You can help me escape. Power in numbers you know.”

“Who else is going?”

“My friend Rose and her boyfriend are gonna be there and her cousin Charlotte and her husband are going too.”

“So then why do i have to go? You already have four other people there to provide back up for you.”

“Yes but they are all coupled off and i’m not, and if this guy turns out to be a creepier, I won’t be a fifth wheel…I’ll have you to hang out with.”

“I see so I’m a backup plan…What if this guy turns out to be your dream man and you all hit it off great. Then I’m a seventh wheel and left out on my own.”

“Bella you are a beautiful woman, I doubt you will be left alone. Maybe you can even find someone that is worth your time and affections, unlike that sleeze-bag you call a husband.”

“I do not call him my husband…anymore. Now he’s just my roommate and guy i grew up with.”

“Well that’s a step in the right direction anyway! So come on now Bella will you go with me?”

“Fine Alice I will go but I’m not gonna like it one bit.”

“Okay if you say so Bella.” Alice chuckled at her friend.

The ceremony went off without a hitch. Bella gave her speech and was awarded with a standing ovation and cheering. She of course blushed and made her way to Alice who was standing near the corner of the stage talking to a very large man. He could have passed as a bear if he was covered in fur. As Bella approached the man looked up and over and connected with her eyes.

“Oh Bella I want to introduce you to Emmett. Emmett this is Bella.”

“Well hello sweet thing.”

“Hi” Bella muttered.

“It’s okay Bella. No need to be shy or nervous. Emmett is going to the club with us tonight. This is Rose’s Boyfriend.”

Bella looked around for the mysterious Rose, but couldn’t tell who she was as she had never met her.

“Rose is congratulating her cousin Dina. Apparently she was in this class too.”

Bella thought back over everyone she had met and remembered working on a project once with a Dina.

“I think i worked on something with her at one time.”

“Well then let’s go find Rose and we can go over everything for later tonight.” Alice said jumping up and down.

“Fine let’s go.” Bella sighed.

They walked around till they found Rose in the corner of the auditorium speaking to a small girl who looked oddly like an elf. As they got closer Rose looked over and waved. Once everyone was there they made introductions. Alice went first.

“Rose, this is Bella. Bella this is Rose and I’m sure you know Dina.”

“Yes hello.”

“Hi Bella.” Dina said.

“Hello” Rose added.

“So about tonight?” Alice jumped right into planning.

“Whoa Alice, chill a moment. Let’s get these two graduates something to eat and then we can talk about what is going on tonight.” Rose cut her off.

“Fine” Alice huffed.

Bella was thinking she was gonna like Rose. Rose seemed to be the only one able to reign in Alice’s over dominate personality. They made their way to their cars. Bella was riding with Alice as she didn’t have a car of her own. Alice started asking questions as soon as they left the parking lot.

“So Bella what are your plans now?”

“Well i plan on getting another job so i can save money and get the hell out of that house.”

“What about a car? Do you have one? I never see you drive it.”

“No i don’t have a car. I never needed one as i don’t go anywhere to far. The grocery store is on the same block as the house and they deliver, and the campus was only two blocks away so i walked everywhere.”

“So you’ll need to get a car then.”

“Yes Alice.”

“We should talk to Rose. She might know where to get one real cheap. Wait…Can you even drive?”

“Of course i can drive. I’m not a complete invalid.”

“Sorry i just wasn’t sure if it was one of the things he would let you do.”

“I understand Alice but my dad taught me how to drive when i was twelve. He used to let me drive the old truck around my grandparent’s farm.”

“Wow your Dad sounds cool. Does he know about all of this mess?”

“No. I’m not gonna say anything until I’m moved out and already divorced!”

“Why would you wait to do that?”

“Neither of our families believe in divorce. They think that i should look past his shortcomings and love him no matter what. They take that whole for better or for worse to heart literally.”

“Bella you know that is bullshit right?”

“Yeah I know. I was sort of the black sheep of the family. My sister is the wonder child.”

“Bella I didn’t know you had a sister. You’ve never mentioned her before.”

“We don’t speak anymore. She thinks she is better then everyone. We had a falling out when i got married to Edward.”

“Oh what kind of falling out?”

“She said i wasn’t good enough for Edward. That she should be the one marrying him and not me.”

“Well i guess your wishing the same thing now.”

“Yep. If she wants him she can have him. Unless she already did which wouldn’t surprise me one little bit.”

They pulled up outside the restaurant a few seconds later. They joined Rose, Emmett and Dina at the hostess’s podium. A tall beautiful redhead showed them to their table saying her name was Victoria and that she would be their server for the evening. After they all ordered Alice once again tried to talk about the club again.

“So now we are here what are we gonna do about the club later?”

“Alice i said after we eat…not while we wait for our food.” Rose reprimanded her.

“But Rose… I only just got Bella to agree to go and I want to make sure the plans are concrete before she tries to back out again.” Alice whined.

“Alice let it go for now. I have only just met Bella and I would like to get to know her more before i willing allow you to torture her.”

“Too late” Bella whispered.

“OH I’m so sorry Bella. That demon pixie has her ways. How did you two meet anyway? Alice never told me.”

Shit Bella wasn’t sure if she should tell Rose how they really met. But Alice calmed all her fears.

“Go ahead Bella, you can tell her. We are stronger then that remember.”

Rose looked between the two quizzically.

“Well I met Alice one night while she was waiting for my husband to come home from work.”

“What do you mean she was waiting for your husband to come home from work, and why isn’t your husband here with you now?” Emmett asked.

“Well she was waiting for him because she was sleeping with him.”

The other three around the table gasped. Was she for real?

“You’re telling me that you are friends with someone who was sleeping with your husband?” Rose asked.

“She didn’t know he was my husband at the time, and she wasn’t the only one he was sleeping with. She was just the first one that got caught. We talked that whole night. Then we became friends and the closer we got the further away Edward got. So he eventually broke it off with Alice and we have been friends ever since. She is helping me move past him and get on with my life.”

“Wow…Bella you’re a really strong woman if you can handle all that. I would have flipped out and killed Alice for sleeping with my husband.”

“It’s all good. I knew he was sleeping with someone because he never wanted to sleep with me unless he was drunk.”

“How long have you been married?”

“We married our second year in college. So i would say 6 maybe 7 years. I don’t really care to keep track anymore. After the first three years everything went downhill. He was never home and was always tired. I think we slept together a total of 5 times maybe since we were married.”

“And you have never cheated on him in return?” Rose asked.

“Nope. Bella is kinda a recluse. She doesn’t get out much and when she does it’s only to the store, work or school. She doesn’t even have a car so if it wasn’t in walking distance she didn’t go.” Alice jumped in.

“Really?” Emmett asked.

“Yeah I don’t really like to meet new people. So as you can probably guess I’m scared shitless right now. But I trust Alice that you are good people and I know she wouldn’t let any of you hurt me.”

“Your right in that Bella. I won’t let anyone hurt you anymore. Once I get you a car and get you out of that house, we can work on getting you socialized.”

“Alice don’t force her to do anything.” Rose glared at alice.

“No it’s okay Rose. Alice is right. I have been isolated for so long that i don’t really know how to respond to normal situations, or people.”

“Well then let us help. I know someone who has a car for sale for like 300 bucks. I can get it, look it over and fix it up and then you can pay me for it.” Rose said.

“You would do that for me?” Bella asked stunned.

“Of course. You need friends and all the support you can get at this moment, and i understand what you’re goin through. My dad was a cheating bastard. I helped my mom get through it and now she is happily married to a man who worships the ground she walks on.”

“Thank you.” Bella said with tears in her eyes.

“Now back to the Club.” Alice jumped in changing the subject.

Everyone laughed. The tension was cleared and everyone chatted happily while they finished eating.
