Dream Lover

Chapter 15:

It had only been a few hours since James had ended his call with his cousin Jasper. He was continually running over everything he had said in his mind. When Jasper first said that he wouldn’t believe him he thought that perhaps it was someone from their childhood that they really didn’t like and would never ever think of seeing…but this whole bizarre dream thing had him worried for his cousin. He thought that Jasper had been living alone out there for too long and finally lost his mind. But then he described Alice’s friend Bella to perfection.

Now James knew that Jasper had never been to Chicago, hell the only time he ever stepped foot out of Texas was when he was in the military. Then when he got injured during his second tour and was honorably discharged, he hadn’t left the ranch since. The scratch mark thing was freaky. When he said about Bella possibly having his teeth impressions, James thought back to the night at the club and remembered that Bella kept rubbing over what looked to be a sore mark on her shoulder just under her dress strap. A dress, now that James focused, was the exact shade of blue as Jasper’s eyes.

James began to wonder if Bella was having the strange dreams too. He knew how he could help his cousin if she was the same girl, all he had to do now was talk to Alice.

A door opening brought him out of his thoughts.

“James I’m here.”

Speak of the devil and she shall appear…James thought.

“How was your day?” he asked her.

“My day was fabulous! Yours?”

“I spoke with my cousin earlier. You know the one who lives in Texas?”

“Oh the war vet…yeah, how’s he doin? Didn’t you say he was seeing someone finally?”

“He’s….good i guess? And yeah he’s seeing someone?” James said it as a question.

“James?” Alice looked at him with concern.

“Sit down a minute Alice.”

Alice sat down and looked toward James with a questioning look in her eyes.

“What can you tell me about your friend Bella?”

“Why do you wanna know about Bella?”

“Just bear with me on this….i already think it’s crazy and that he is losing his mind i just want a second opinion.”

“Okay…what do you want to know?”

“Is she married?”

“Yes and no.”

“Explain please.”

“She left her cheating husband the day i helped her move into her new place. It had been over for a while and she just needed the incentive to get the hell out of there and Rose and I helped.”

“How do you know her husband was cheating on her?”

“Um…I was sleeping with him…that is how Bella and I met in the first place. I showed up at her house one night when he was working late. He never called me to tell me not to show up. She was very nice about everything. I didn’t know they were married at the time. He told me that Bella was his roommate…she was only there to help pay the bills and keep the house clean while he was at work.”

“What an asshole. Okay where does she work?”

“An interior design firm, but she also works for a restaurant now as a chef. She went to a culinary class at the university and graduated the day we met at the club…it was kind of a celebration of her. Why all the questions?”

“I’m getting to that. Now the part that has me thinking my cousin is insane…Has Bella been having any weird dreams lately?”

“Define weird?”

“Do i have to?”

“Yes you do…there are many definitions to the word weird.”

“Fine…um…Sexual fantasy type weird.”

“Oh god James…are you telling me that you’re having these dreams?”

Alice looked like she was about to cry.

“No Alice…god No! I would have committed myself for fear i had lost my mind…It’s my cousin, He’s the one having these dreams about this girl…after some strange stuff happened he was convinced she’s real and that these dreams weren’t just dreams.”

Alice seemed lost in thought for a minute or two before it looked like the light bulb clicked on above her head.

“Oh my god! James what does your cousin look like?”

“Uh…tall, blond, blue eyes, farm boy build and tan…Texan through and through…Why?”

“So he has an accent?”

“Deeper than mine as i haven’t been down home in years.”

“Can he cook?”

“Yeah…his mama taught him and me when we was younger. She said something about bein able to woo a woman in a proper way. Why?”

Alice began giggling.

“I think i would like his mama.”

“She would’ve like you too.” James smiled.

“Would’ve?”

“Yeah my aunt and uncle passed some time ago. Just after I went off to college and my cousin left for boot camp. He’s been on that ranch since.”

“That’s sad but what does all this have to do with Bella again?”

“He said that’s what the girl’s name was. That she was a brunette goddess. I think he’s in love with her. Oh and he knew about the club.”

“Huh? How?”

“He said he met her there in one of the dreams. It was gettin hot and steamy before they were interrupted.”

“Holy shit! I interrupted…that was when I went to ask Bella if she would drive my car home. She was out of it and I had to yell her name for like five minutes.”

“Well what are we gonna do?”

“We are gonna get them together!” Alice squealed before jumping on James’ lap.

“How? She has obligations here and he won’t leave that blasted Ranch.”

“Not even to meet his dream girl?”

“Well…When you put it that way. He might leave. He sounded mighty excited when i told him about your Bella…he threatened to kiss me! Oh hell Alice don’t let him kiss me whatever you do!”

“I won’t. Now i have a few phone calls to make, starting with Bella. You try and get your cousin to come for a visit.”

“All right. I’ll call him back but i don’t know what good it’ll do me.”

With that Alice kissed his cheek and disappeared out the door; already dailing her phone.

Bella was sitting at home when her cell phone went off.

“Bella Swan speaking.”

“Bella its Alice. Nice to see your back to your maiden name already.”

“Oh hey Alice. It is nice. I was never much of a Cullen anyway. So what do i owe the pleasure of this call?”

“Well you can sit down for one and two you can start loving me forever!”

“Okay I’m sitting down, but why am i loving you forever?”

“Your loving me because….wait for it….wait for it….I think i found your dream man!”

“Alice…I’m not dating any of your friends or co-workers. I told you that before…”

“NO Bella, I’m serious…I think i have found that delicious man you’ve been dreaming about.”

Bella gasped. Could she have really found Jasper?

“Alice…”

“Just hear me out.”

“Okay?”

“Well when i got to James’ today he seemed….off. He asked about my day, then i asked about his. He said he spoke to his cousin. I figured okay no big deal, right….then he started asking me about you.”

“Me? Why me?”

“I’m getting to that. So anyway i told him the basics. You left your cheating douche-bag husband, you’re a chef and an interior designer. Then he asked if you were having any weird dreams…I asked him to elaborate on what kind of weird dreams and he said sexual ones.”

“My dreams! Alice please tell me you didn’t tell him?”

“Not in so many words, but he knew. He knew about you zoning out at the club too. So i figured that the only ones who would know about that would be me, you and your dream lover.”

“And?”

Bella was about to jump out of her skin by this point.

“So when James described his cousin to me, of course it wasn’t as delicious as you made him sound, but then if he did that would be rather disturbing….anyway i think that James’ cousin is your dream man.”

“How??”

“I don’t know. James thinks his cousin has flipped his lid living alone all this time. That was until he described you and even said your name.”

“What is James’ cousin’s name?”

“Uh….let me think…Jim, John, Jared, Jake…No damn it that’s not it either!”

“Jasper?” Bella whispered.

“That’s it! Wait how did you….OH! So what you’re saying is…”

“He’s real!”

“Holy Dancing Dwarfs Dorothy!” Alice shouted.

“What?” Bella said while laughing.

“It’s like fate brought us together…”

“Huh?” Bella asked.

“Think about it. Your cheating husband brought me to you. We bonded and became friends. I started to push you to become more yourself. You start having these dreams about this hot southern lover. You end things with Edward and move out. With us becoming friends and me not being with Edward i started browsing the scene again and meet James who just so happens to be your dream lover’s cousin…”

“The point Alice.”

“My point is that if we wouldn’t have met and set things in motion then we wouldn’t be here right now.”

“And where is that exactly? Because I’m lost?”

“We are both about to become exponentially happier.”

“How?”

“James is calling his cousin Jasper to come for a visit. Apparently that night at the club James tried setting his cousin up with you only to be told he was seeing someone.  Only now we find out that that someone was you.”

“Okay Alice. Now I’m completely confused and tired. We’ll talk about this more tomorrow. I’m going to bed.”

“Tell Jasper i said hi!” Alice giggled.

“Good night Alice.”

“Good night Bella, sweet dreams.”

Bella hung up when Alice started laughing. She was hoping to see Jasper tonight and if what Alice said was true, then hopefully she could meet him in person before too long. Now all she had to do was convience Jasper to come visit…and get a divorce!
