How To Tell Your Imprint That She’s Your Imprint

Chapter 06:
Bella’s POV
It was officially the best shower that I’d ever had in my life. I was at work and couldn’t get my mind off Jared. I was completely in lust with him. He did things to my body that I never thought I could feel. And his kisses? They were certainly better than Edward’s cold, hard ones. Jared’s lips were wet, warm, and delicious.
I didn’t know what was going on between us. We hadn’t really discussed our relationship because we kept getting interrupted. I’m his girlfriend; that much I did learn, but I had no idea how that even came about. We seemed really tuned into each other. When Edward and Alice showed up to my prom, he protected me. He knew they were trying to dazzle me, and he did everything possible to draw my attention. He even went so far as to change the scent of my blood so that I no longer smelled attractive to Edward.
I wonder if my blood stinks now. I lifted my wrist to my nose and sniffed. No, I still smell the same. Hmm… Maybe I only stink to vampires with their heightened senses? But, of course, when Jared bit me, Quil and Embry seemed absolutely stunned, and Edward was angrier than I’d ever seen him before. There has to be more to that bite than Jared let on. I feel more connected to him than ever after he bit me. I actually felt it happening while his teeth were embedded in my flesh.
“Bella, it’s six pm. We need to close up shop,” Mike said.
“Yep, I just finished counting the drawer.”
Mike didn’t reply. I looked up and gulped when I saw myself staring into the barrel of a gun.
“Give me the cash,” a gruff voice in a ski mask ordered. I looked to the side, and Mike was lying in a pool of blood, knocked out. When the hell did that happen? He was just talking to me.
“I said give me the cash!” the criminal demanded.
Crap! What am I supposed to do now? It’s not like I can call the police with him standing there, pointing a gun at me. And really? This guy had to pick now to hold up the store? I’m finally dating a nice guy, and as a bonus, he was a great kisser. What if I didn’t get to make out with Jared ever again?
“Are you deaf, girl? Give me the fucking cash now before I blow your brains out!”
Suddenly recalling there was a silent alarm under the counter where the cash register was sitting, I told the robber, “Okay, let me just open the register. Oh, and can you put the gun down? I can’t think with you pointing it at me.”
He didn’t put the gun down, but took his finger off the trigger. I moved to open the register, but before I did that, I slid my hand under the counter and tripped the silent alarm.
“Bella, duck!” Jared, who came out of nowhere, shouted. He grabbed the asshole with the gun, rammed his head into the counter, and knocked him out. He came around to me and checked me for injuries.
“I’m okay, Jared. Thank you for saving my life.”
He held me tight, but kept an eye on the criminal.
Three minutes later, the Forks Police showed up. Lieutenant Marshall came rushing inside, asking if I was okay. An ambulance was called for the unconscious Mike. The thug who tried to rob the store was also taken away in a separate ambulance, but he was handcuffed to the gurney. Jared and I were both questioned extensively by Lieutenant Marshall and several detectives.
Thirty minutes later, my freaked-out father came rushing into the store along with Jared’s father, Billy Black, and Harry Clearwater. Mr. and Mrs. Newton arrived a few minutes after them.
Lieutenant Marshall gave all of them the details of what happened. He told everyone I could have been shot dead if Jared hadn’t shown up and disarmed the assailant. He was instantly hailed a hero, and my father finally stopped calling him Jeffrey.
The two of us were sent back to La Push. Apparently, we were having dinner at Jared’s house. The dads had caught a big haul of fish, and Harry would make his famous fish fry to celebrate Jared’s heroics.
Jared started my truck up. He pulled me next to him, putting his arm around me as he drove.
“I felt it, Bella. I felt the pull. I knew you were in danger. I’ve never been so frightened in my life,” he blurted. “I can’t lose you, Bella. I just can’t. You’re everything to me, and the thought of you being hurt or in danger is just… Well, it’s plain unthinkable.”
I didn’t know what to say. I was overwhelmed and honored that he could feel so much for me.
“Jared, I feel a connection to you. Is that weird? I’ve never felt so connected to anyone in my entire life. It’s like our souls are intertwined or something.”
“They are, Bella. They… Oh shit… I’ve been meaning to tell you something for a few months now. I… Well… Remember the first day you found out we were wolves?”
“Sure, it was the day I slapped Paul.”
“Yeah, well, I…”
“You imprinted on me,” I whispered with sudden realization. “That’s why you couldn’t take your eyes off of me, and I couldn’t take my eyes off of you.”
“Yeah.”
“How come you didn’t tell me before?”
“I tried, but I just couldn’t muster up the confidence to tell you. I wanted it to be perfect. Then, whenever I tried to tell you, someone would interrupt or… I don’t know… I just…”
I stopped him in his train of thought and kissed him. It felt so nice to simply kiss him. Afterward, we just stopped and looked into each other’s eyes for a while. I knew right then that I was looking into the eyes of my forever.
“Thank you for telling me.”
“Well, I didn’t exactly tell you. You kind of figured it out yourself.”
“Yeah, I guess I did.”
We had a good laugh together, and even stopped for ice cream at Sully’s before driving to La Push. Ice cream always made things better.
Graduation came and went for both of us. My father threw a massive party for me at our house. He was so proud. After Jared saved my life at Newton’s, he became my father’s favorite guy. He even went fishing with my dad a couple of weekends ago.
With Lauren’s pregnancy, our idea to get an apartment of our own fell through. It didn’t matter, though. The tribal council awarded the pack members their homes on the reservation, just like they did with Sam and Emily. Actually, I should correct that. Jared and I and Paul and Rachel were given homes. Quil, Embry, and Jake were still under eighteen, so they’d get their homes next year. I was now living with Jared on the reservation.
For now, Jared and I work part-time at Newton’s Olympic Outfitters. We would go to Peninsula College in the fall along with Paul and Jessica. None of us wanted to work part-time for a little over minimum wage for the rest of our lives. We needed educations to get good careers.
Earlier today, all of us went to the Forks City Hall. Jared was presented with an Outstanding Citizen Award for his act of heroism at Newton’s Olympic Outfitters. He received a medal, a plaque, and an unexpected twenty-thousand-dollar reward from Mr. and Mrs. Newton, who were grateful that Mike and I both escaped relatively unharmed. Mike needed stitches but otherwise only suffered from a concussion from the bump on his head.
“So, what should we do with twenty-thousand bucks?” Jared asked.
“I think you should put some of it towards a car. I mean, we keep having to borrow your mother’s car.” My truck had finally kicked the bucket the day after graduation.
“Yeah, you’re right. Maybe we could each put some money in and buy a halfway decent one.”
“With good gas mileage,” I added. That truck was a gas guzzler.
“I agree,” he said, picking me up in his arms and carrying me to our bedroom. He kicked the door open and scanned the room. “Maybe we should buy a bed, too. This air mattress sucks.”
“Okay, we’ll buy a bed, a big enormous bed so we can stretch out and be comfortable.”
“Sounds good, babe.”
And so, we made plans for the future, beginning with a bed and a car. One thing was for sure, we knew we’d be happy for the rest of our lives. How could we not be? I was his imprint, after all. I’m sure glad I finally figured out I was his imprint.
