She’s So Gone
By Midnight Dreamer

Chapter 09:
First day of school oh joy, Jasper thought as he got around that morning. What kind of a mess would go on today? He wondered if the new girl; correction if Izzy would be early or late? Would he get the chance to talk to her or would it be a hit and miss kinda day?
Hearing a horn blaring outside of his house, he rushed around putting his things in his bag. Why did Emmett always have to be on time? Locking the door behind him, he climbed into Emmett’s jeep. Alice and Edward were already swapping spit in the far back seats, and Rose had shotgun. He didn’t understand why Emmett and Rose hadn’t hooked up already. They both had a thing for each other and this sick mating dance thing they were doing was really getting on his nerves.
“Morning Jasper. Ready for hell?” Emmett asked.
“Lead the way gate keeper.” Jasper frowned.
“That excited huh?” Edward asked after withdrawing from swallowing Alice’s head.
“Yeah.”
“What about the new girl…Izzy? Thought you were crushin on her?” Rose asked.
“Rose I don’t really even know her. How am i supposed to crush on someone I haven’t even talked to yet?” Jasper got snippy.
“Chill dude, she was only askin.” Emmett said defending Rose like he always does.
“Whatever can we just go already?”
“We’re already here.” Emmett laughed.
Jasper looked around and sure enough they were in the student lot at the school.
“Fine let’s get this over with.”
The five got out and made their way to the quad, like expected. The silence that rang out was deafening. It was always like this, every day of the school year. It pissed Jasper off to no end. Just because they had money and were good looking everyone looked to them as if they walked on water. Jasper just wanted to avoid the whole scene.
“Damn it’s as if they’re afraid we’re gonna combust if they talk.” Emmett laughed causing the rest of them to snicker. Emmett always knew how to break up the tension that hung in the air.
They made their way down the embankment onto the quad. Scanning the crowds of the usual suspects; Jasper finally found who he was unconsciencously looking for. Izzy sat by herself by the main building. She seemed to be watching the people around her, like she was assessing a threat level. When her eyes met his he smiled. He saw her hold her breath and chuckled to himself. So he had the same effect on her as he did the others. Then she looked away. Okay so maybe he didn’t. That could be a good thing. Finally a normal girl. He watched as she looked at all the sheep in the field; all staring at their small group. He watched as she shook her head and went back to looking at whatever she held in her hands. He was just about to walk over to her when Alice started talking to him.
“Is that her over there Jasper?”
“Huh?”
“Jasper pay attention. I asked if that was Izzy over there by the office building?”
“Yeah that’s her.”
“Why is she sitting alone?”
“Dave said she doesn’t talk to people, she’s a bit of a loner I guess.”
“Well that just won’t do.” Alice declared.
“Alice, don’t go scarin her on her first day here.” Emmett scolded her.
“Shove it Emmett. Don’t tell me what to do.”
“I’m just saying. It’s a new school with all new people you don’t want to overwhelm her before school even starts.” Emmett defended himself.
“He has a point Alice. Leave her alone for now. Give her a chance to get used to the school. Then by all means feel free to scare her.” Edward added snickering before Alice slapped him.
“I have no intentions of scaring her. I just wanna get to know her.”
“Just wait till at least lunch time.” Rose added.
“What if she doesn’t have lunch with us?”
“Well then you’ll have to hope you have a class with her then.” Jasper added, even though he was also hoping to get the chance to talk to her.
“Fine.”
After one final glance in her direction, Jasper and the gang headed off toward their home rooms just as the first bell rang.
