The Bodyguard

Chapter 24:
12:00 PM
I’m Federal Agent Jason Connolly, and today is the longest day of my life.
The wedding of Bella Swan and Tyrone Gavin.
Jack was leading my team along with Garrett and his new vampire squad to fight a Lycan outbreak in Siberia that had taken out two Delta Force teams trying to recover a top secret missile defense satellite that had been taken out by space debris. They would kill the Lycans, look for survivors and reclaim the satellite. At least the important pieces. Of course it could be Sasquatches. No one was certain but something bad was out there.
I should be one of the something bads out there. Instead I was here. Tomorrow Bella and Ty were supposed to be married. I was in the wedding as one of Ty’s groomsmen. Leah was… invited.
“Turn off the fucking alarm.” She groaned, rolling over on top of me. Part of the imprint thing apparently meant we stayed in close proximity to each other. We found that out the hard way when I went on a recon mission without her. Neither of us did well and she had to be sent out to me before the migraine killed me or worse got me discovered.
Imprinting had been… interesting. We were apparently what each other needed. I needed a woman who couldn’t have kids, kicked ass, never aged and was a sex goddess. Leah needed a guy who would be faithful.
Extremely faithful.
A blonde approached me in Rome a couple weeks ago at the hotel bar the team had been using for a base of operations, trying to capture a possible witch who had ties to a very lucky terrorist cell in the city. We thought with her out of the picture the CIA may have a better shot at catching these guys. Leah had been out trying to catch a scent and this blonde was… she was amazing. She flat out asked me to come to her room.
I looked at her in a daze. Not a daze of lust but a daze of trying to figure out why I had no attraction to her what so ever.
She finally became frustrated by my dumbfounded look and told me if I was gay all I had to do was say so and not stare at her like she was an idiot.
Not that I would have done it. I really was fallin for Leah. I mean this could be love. Not that I had ever felt it before. But still…
Zero attraction?
Gay?
What the fuck did those Indian spirits do to me?
Regardless, here I was in Houston Texas. Apparently the guys and gals were splittin up for the day. There would be a rehearsal tonight and the wedding would happen tomorrow at noon.
I looked Leah in the eyes and then the rest of her, trying to decide if we had time for a frenzied round of sex before I had to get ready. The guys would be meeting at the Gavin house and going to play golf of all fucking things. I didn’t play golf and apparently Ty didn’t either but he thought this would be a fun way to spend the afternoon. The Rocket’s owner had sprung for it or something. Then tonight we were heading to a club. Not a strip club since Gavin’s best man, his brother Jeff, wasn’t old enough to get into those. Instead Gavin’s boys planned to bring strippers into a private club so his 16 year old brother could enjoy the scene. Something tells me if Bella or Donna had an idea this would be happening, Ty would be in trouble.
Another part of me thought, no I knew, that it was impossible for Ty to keep anything from Bella.
That was another reason I was here. Garrett had tried on three occasions to find out how Bella was doing. The last time, the drone that followed her out into the desert was flown into a cliff. There were no technical problems. Garrett had the drone at a height of ten thousand feet looking down on where Bella parked in the middle of nowhere.
We had no idea what she planned to do out in the middle of the desert because Bella stepped out of her car, gazed directly up above at the stealth drone she should not have been able to see or hear, winked at the camera and then took control of the drone.
She flew the multi million dollar piece of equipment into a cliff three miles away. Luckily it wasn’t armed. The explosion was small and recovery was quick and went unnoticed.
Still the idea that she could do that was frightening.
“Nah darlin. I got to get ready. So do you. Aren’t ya’ll supposed to get your nails done or some shit with Bella and her bridesmaids?”
“I’m not a bridesmaid. Emily is going to be there. Between her and Bella plus Bella’s Forks friends I think I will just stay in.”
“Not the plan. Garrett wants info on her. He wants your impressions. See if anything is weird.”
“That leech can go fuck himself. Who is in charge anyway? You or him?”
So Leah still hadn’t quite settled her deep seeded aversion to vampires, even those on our side.
“We are both in charge and he is my friend. Could you please stop calling him a leech?”
“He knows she is weird. She destroyed his flying toy. She destroyed his electronic monitors he hid in her apartment, twice. She’s a damn vampire magnet. What else does he want to know? She doesn’t want to be fucked with so maybe he should just leave it alone.”
I was about to tell her to follow orders until the sheet slipped off her breasts. Damn those things were perfect.
“Jason?”
“Huh?”
“I asked you a question. Stop staring at my tits unless you are planning on doing something to them and answer me. What else does he want to know? Why don’t we just leave her alone?”
Because no human should be able to do what she is doing and Garrett and I both felt that it would eventually lead to an early death for her. It was just a feeling but I tended to trust mine. Garrett and I had both gone over the sessions in Area 52. Yes she did absorb those powers. Yes she assimilated them in an extreme circumstance. Yes her brain is using more electricity than any human brain ever recorded.
But she was becoming more. Garrett and I both knew it. Garrett was pretty sure she was developing powers she had never been exposed to. Her brain was using itself to the fullest and neither he nor I nor all those egg heads we pay to study aliens and vampires and other mysteries of the universe knew what to expect. We didn’t know what she could do today but we were pretty certain every day she went by she would be able to do more.
The scientists at Area 52 requested that she be placed into custody and studied. Garrett told them to go fuck themselves. I agreed. They went over our heads to the President. He told them to go fuck themselves.
Unless Bella became a risk to national security.
“Because we need to make sure she is okay. That’s why.”.
“Fine. So you up for me?” she grinned. Then she lifted the sheets.
“Looks like you are definitely up for me. Sure you have to go?”
“Fuck it. I can meet Gavin at the golf course.”
1:25 PM
Before giving my keys to the valet I popped my ear piece in and placed my back up 9 in my boot holster. I had my .45 in my belt holster and had my shirt pulled over it.
“Excuse me sir but golf attire or dress pants and shirts are required at this club.”
“Fuck off.” I told him, placing my straw cowboy hat on my head.
“Sir, the rules are…”
“I’m with the Gavin party. Can you tell me where they are?”
“Oh… the Gavin… yes sir they are in the club house lounge. You will at least have to wear golf shoes…”
“I’m good.” I tossed my keys to the kid and handed him a twenty.
Placing my earpiece in, I figured I would check in with Rudi to see how the op is going.
“This is Connolly. You got me?”
“Yeah. I got you.” A bored sounding female voice came over the com.
“Uh, where is Rudi and who the fuck is this?”
“I don’t know who Rudi is. Some guy named Garrett had my boss call me in on a Saturday to be your op support even though you are apparently off this weekend. I’m Chloe O’Brian. Now what can I do for you oh great and important one?”
“What the hell kind of clearance do you have?” I asked.
“I have every kind of clearance. This Garrett guy told my boss to tell you that it should be enough for you. Which I don’t understand because there are no clearance’s over mine.”
“If there were you wouldn’t know about it.” I told her truthfully.
“Yeah I would.”
“Doesn’t appear to be so in this case. Fine just hang out. I will let you know if I need anything. Do you have access to the…”
Damn it what satellites could she use?
“I can have access to anything you need. Are you running an op or are you seriously just there to party all weekend and somehow warrant an analyst during your off time?”
“Yeah I’m here for a wedding. Just follow orders. Also a female agent named Leah Clearwater may be checking in…”
“You have a girlfriend there who works for you?”
“I didn’t say girlfriend.”
“If you are there just for a wedding and she is there, she must be a girlfriend. Or do two agents happen to be at the same wedding? I just pulled her up. She has been an agent for three weeks? She didn’t… what agency do you even work for?”
“Chloe right?”
“Yes.”
“Shut up and stand by if I need something. Hopefully I won’t. Play on Facebook and enjoy the overtime you are getting for doing nothing. Don’t ask questions.”
“Yes sir. Have fun playing golf. Should I check for any risk vectors in the city while I am updating my Facebook and Twitter status?”
“Do what makes you happy. Connolly out.”
Bitch.
Walking into the clubhouse it wasn’t hard to find Gavin. Him and his boys were the only black guys in the place. The rich white guys who were probably regular members of this club were looking at them with a bit of suspicion. Especially T Bone who went about 350 pounds by my estimation along with about fifty pounds of gold chains.
I had to laugh when I saw Gavin. He stood up and walked over to me.
I took all of him in. He was dressed in black pants, a light blue shirt and a darker checkered blue sweater vest. He had some sort of wide brim hat on with a Nike Swoosh on the front.
“Connolly! My brother from another mother. Give Ty a hug.”
He wrapped his arms around me and I let him. We have been in some pretty intense places together. Honestly if he wasn’t so damn good at what he did I would have convinced him to join us. The guy had a type of bravery that was hard to find in this world.
“Gavin. Damn glad to see you in better circumstances.” Like no blood suckers trying to kill us.
“You too. What took you so long? We got the carts ready, the caddies ready, all we were waiting on was our token white boy to get us on the course and you show up looking like you stepped outta a trailer park on a dude ranch. You got wrapped up in that little hell wolf of yours, didn’t ya?”
“Yeah. Sorry. How ya been?”
“Well my ass got up early and banged my woman for a few hours. Had a little breakfast and some orange juice. Bella and me went with Nike last week so I got a bit of big ones in the account. Bells got em to four years at $100 mil if you can believe that shit, plus they gave me and my boys some threads for this weekend. I got some for you. You want to change?”
“Nah I’m good.” Like I was wearing that shit. “So Bella got an extra ten mil out of them?”
“They wanted to beat Adidas that’s what they had to do. We were going to wait a bit but Bella figured there was nothing that could come back on the school for so we signed.”
“Yeah I bet Bella is hard to say no to right?” I asked as casually as possible. Not casually enough.
“You here to stand in my wedding or do scoutin work for Gar?”
“I’m here for you big guy.” I told him honestly. Whatever I happened to notice was just a bonus.
Twenty minutes later I had him alone on a golf cart.
“So things been okay? I understand Bella has been spendin a lot of time in the desert?”
“Yeah, she been doin some prenatal yoga. Says the desert scenery helps her relax.”
“She ain’t been doin no… you know… stuff?”
Ty looked straight ahead. To his credit he didn’t try to lie to me.
“Not around me.”
“Meaning?”
“She’s okay man. I been keepin a close eye on her. Very close. She got set up with a doctor and everything. Baby is doin good. She’s even startin to have some morning sickness. Her biggest worry right now is not puking during the ceremony. Her body temp has been normal. I been keepin track of the Tylenol in the house and she hasn’t been using any or complaining about headaches. I think she is putting it behind her man. Relaxing. Enjoying life without anybody comin for her. Things are good. We got school, graduation, the draft. Then the baby is gonna be born. I’m gonna be in the league, she’s gonna be settin up her foundations. She got all kinds of idea she tells me about every night man. Things are good.”
Uh huh.
“So what happened on the interstate outside Tempe last week?” I asked.
“Yeah I saw that on the news. Strange shit. Probably more you guys territory. Figure it must be some aliens or shit.”
Our golf cart got bumped by Jeff’s. He had the big guy named T Bone riding with him.
“Come on bro. I’m bout to finally be able to school your ass in a sport.” Jeff said laughing.
“Golf ain’t a sport bitch.” Ty told him and then stopped laughing when he was away. I went ahead and rehashed events in case he forgot.
“Two delivery trucks speeding down the interstate being pursued by police. Apparently it was discovered these trucks were smuggling people from South America to work in sweat shops. Police couldn’t stop the trucks without risking the innocents getting injured.”
“Yeah that was some tense shit on the news. I was watching from the gym with the guys.”
“Then the trucks go from 90 to 0. Sudden stop but they didn’t hit anything. No one inside was jarred. The trucks come apart. Literally come apart. Outside walls fall down, tires fall off, bumpers drop, engines fall to the ground. Damn things looked like the glue that held them together just came apart. Then you got six guys with guns and a whole bunch of potential hostages.”
“Yeah I saw, I said. Probably aliens huh?” Gavin tried again.
“Police surround the remains of the trucks and the men with the guns, who before they can grab hostages, pass smooth out at the same time.”
“Maybe it was God. God does work in mysterious ways.” Ty suggested.
“What if I told you I reviewed the whole incident from our satellites for evidence of divine intervention or extraterrestrial contact and instead I saw your woman on a cliff not far away looking over the whole scene. She wasn’t doing pre natal yoga either.”
“She was probably UFO hunting. You know she is into that sort of thing.”
“She took down two trucks moving at high speed, tore them apart and placed the bad guys into near comas simultaneously. Judging by the video she didn’t break a sweat doing it. You know the medial reports on the bad guys showed they all had spontaneous bursting of veins in their brains. Just enough to make them paralyzed and passed out. Not enough to kill.”
“Your point cowboy?”
“You’re marrying a superhero. Congrats.” I told him.
“You’re fuckin a woman who turns into a big damn dog.” He countered.
“I’m just wonderin if she is waitin until she has the baby before she makes herself a spandex suit and mask and begins flying around the city fighting crime in the open. What kinda name do you think she has in mind? Mental girl? Or just stick with Wonder Woman? Maybe something hot. Huntress? Wasn’t that one taken though?”
“You do realize you are fuckin a girl who turns into a big damn dog right? You call her super bitch or what?” he asked again.
“You tellin me she didn’t say anything about that incident to you?”
“I didn’t ask.”
“Cause you either didn’t want to know or you already knew and want to pretend you don’t.”
“You know I would be worried about you askin these questions except for one little thing. You fuckers tried anything on her she would blow you down like she took your little toy plane out of the sky.”
Now that is interesting.
“She told you bout that huh?”
He shook his head, probably pissed that he mentioned that and then smiled.
“We are at the first hole. Tee up cowboy. You may have a chance to beat me at this game.”
While the guy called Dollar hit the golf ball striking a cart two holes to the right of us and scaring the hell out of the two old men in it, my ear buzzed. What the fuck does this bitch want now? I stepped away.
“Go.”
“Yes sir. I thought you might be interested in knowing the CIA confirmed a potential threat on facial recognition at Bush and then lost the threat. The one who was recognized is Yeng Zhu. Commander of a Chinese special forces unit. He had six men with him. They flew in on fake passports.”
“So? Sounds like the CIA’s problem.”
“Just letting you know since you are an agent of some sort. My mistake. Are there any threats you might be interested in?”
Yeah. Vampires. Tell me pale guys from Italy showed up in Houston I would be worried. Chinese? Not exactly run of the mill terrorist types. Not their style.
“My apologies. Thanks for the information. Any other threats in the Houston area today?”
“Nothing you would be interested in apparently. I’m going back to Instagram.”
The line was cut. Okay.
We played. Fifth hole I hit Jeff in the head with a golf ball. Ty was taking about ten shots to get the damn little ball from the startin point to the hole. I was a bit better. We started cheatin about halfway through.
After the first six pack Gavin and I had, something kept bothering me and finally wouldn’t shut up in my brain.
Chinese special forces? Terrorism wasn’t their style. So what were they doing here?
“Chloe? You there?”
“Where else would I be? Having fun getting drunk? Your golf game is crappy by the way.”
“Besides stalking me have you heard any update on those Chinese guys?” I asked, ignoring her commentary about my golf game.
“Not really. They haven’t been found. Yeng popped up speaking to a woman at a nail salon of all things. Handed her a small box and then left. The CIA is preparing to bug the place tonight after closing time. They think it could be a possible spy ring being set up. I thought you didn’t care about this?”
Nail salon? Box? Special Forces?
“Were there any drugs that were registered when Yeng arrived?”
“No. Not that went through customs. No weapons, no drugs, nothing that would be red flagged. I would have mentioned that. I’m not sure who you have been working with but I do know my job.”
Okay. Nothing would have been brought in. They are probably setting up a spy ring. Why? A fucking nail salon?
“What nail salon?”
“Empire nails on Fifteenth and Holiday. Why? You need me to set you up an appointment? I am here to give you whatever you need.”
“Ty? What salon is your Momma takin Bella to?”
“Uh somewhere on Fifteenth cowboy. Some Chinese place. Empire or something?” Ty informed me and then swung at a ball missing it and breaking the head off the club.
“Chloe can you break into the HPD database and hospitals and see if there have been any sedatives reported missing or stolen in the past, say two weeks?”
“Of course I can. Give me ten seconds.”
“Okay, the only sedative reported missing is from Memorial Hermann. An experimental sedative but not one that you would be interested in.”
“Why not?”
“It’s called Propazine. It would drug a person but they would most likely stay awake. It would weaken a person but not cause unconsciousness.”
“What is it for?”
“Looks like it is still going through FDA trials. It’s an emergency drug used on seizure patients. It disrupts the brain waves of a patient and in theory will stop any seizures from occurring for two hours.”
Brain waves.
Motherfucker.
The fucking Chinese know what she can do.
And they have come for her. Our President won’t let us study her but I am betting those bastards have no problem with it.
“Chloe I need you to get a hold of Agent Clearwater now and have her take Bella Swan into protective custody. Also tell the FBI a level black operative needs a tac team at Empire Nails immediately. I will meet them there. Give them my clearance number. 6667467”
“You’re kidding. You’re level Black? For real? I thought you guys were urban legends, not rednecks.”
“Do it Chloe.”
I jumped in the cart and Ty was right beside me.
“Get out Ty. I need to be somewhere.”
“Yeah I been listening. Bella ain’t answerin her phone. I got someplace to be too. Lets go.”
Bella POV
2:30 PM
God what a fucking day. I will be so glad when this damn weekend is over.
“Renee put those damn crystals up!” Donna nearly shouted.
Mom had been trying to set up her crystals which was upsetting the nice Chinese ladies who had their own sort of crystals set up. This was causing a spiritual holy war in two languages. I just wanted a damn pedicure.
“You’re Mom does have a point about those crystals Bella. We need our own energy. We can’t rely on others, especially a culture we have no understanding of.” Lauren told me.
“You have been in LA to fucking long Lauren.” I told her.
“You really live in LA?” Shanice asked.
“Yeah but it’s no big deal.” Lauren told her.
“Never said it was. Just trying to figure out what the fuck happened to your hair.”
“Yeah that’s some fucked up hair.” Karika agreed. I couldn’t say much to disagree. At least she went with one color. Blonde, for the wedding.
“I thought the zombie movie was gonna be over by now Lauren?” Angela asked.
“I got cast for another.”
“Seriously Lauren. You’re going to get typecast.” Jessica mentioned. I have to admit once I explained the whole vampire thing and how I had no idea about it until Edward Cullen’s friends came after me they took the whole thing pretty well. Especially since it was in no way my fault they were taken and I pretty much convinced the government to save them. They were very grateful.
So I lied.
“I will keep my crystals away from the window but it’s ridiculous. We all live under the same Goddess.” Mom said, pouting. Donna was shaking her head but I caught her eye and she winked at me. Maybe it would be okay. I was still coming to terms with the fact that I closed my first deal with Nike. I did it clean to. No tricks. $100 mill with ten million up front. It more than paid back Donna’s loan and gave us a little wiggle room to have some fun this weekend.
“So Bella you need to start thinkin about a place to live. Semester will be over in three months. Then you and Ty need to have an idea of where you want to live. You want me to start scoutin some places out?” Donna asked me.
“No, but you can start looking for a place for you and Jeff to live.”
“Excuse me?”
I turned from my chair and looked into her eyes. She seemed… confused?
“A place for you and Jeff? You know Ty wants to buy you a house. Find one you like. Start looking. Any of this confusing?”
“Bella we are all livin in the same house. Jeff and I were always planning on… Ty said he talked to you about this?”
One of the great things about the last few weeks is being able to feel my baby grow inside me. I was so excited about the next months of my life. I was so in tune with my body and the world around me that I would be able to feel my child develop in a way I would bet no other woman has in history.
Now I was concerned the brain damage Ty was so concerned about was coming true.
“Ty hasn’t said a damn thing. Why would you want to live with us?” I asked as nice as I possibly could.
Why would I want to live with you, was the unsaid question. I loved her but I lived with my man now alone. Why the fuck would I become a millionaire and move in with his mother?
“Bella it makes sense. You are going to need help with the baby, with all the work and charities you want to set up. You gonna take the child to board meetings? You are going to be on the road a lot with Ty. You can’t drag a newborn everywhere.”
“Of course not. I’ll hire a nanny before the baby is born. There are a lot of reputable agencies. I will set up interviews about a month before the baby is born.” I explained.
There was that damn look again.
“You gonna bring a stranger into your house to live there and take care of your baby?” Donna asked.
“No I am hiring a nanny.”
“Just make sure that she isn’t Buddhist Bella. They are apparently not very open minded.” Renee added.
“Instead of your baby being watched by his Nana, you want to hire a damn stranger to watch your kid?” Donna asked again.
“Not all the time. I will probably get someone who could possibly double as an assistant for me or… would you stop looking at me like that?”
She wouldn’t stop.
“That’s fine. I will stay where I am at. I don’t need a new house. I just thought I would help out and…”
“Oh give it up Donna! You want the job it’s yours. Damn.”
I knew when to pick my battles. I wouldn’t be winning this one. Ty would be hearing about it though. We were definitely buying a bigger house than I had originally planned. Ty’s dream mansion was out. He pointed out to me that we could have a helicopter and helipad because we were rich. I pointed out that we didn’t need a damn helicopter and I planned on making sure we stayed rich. That meant no tennis courts or bowling alleys or swimming pools that could hold yachts in them.
Of course if Donna and Jeff were moving in the size of the house I had in mind just increased dramatically.
“You the bride?”
I looked up and saw a beautiful oriental lady in her fifties possibly.
“Yes.”
“Come to backroom with me. We have a massage bed you should try out. Hydro massage. You will love it.”
“No, I’m good with the pedicure. Maybe someone else…”
“I’ll try it out.” Jess offered.
“No only the bride. It would be rude to turn down a gift, wouldn’t it?”
I looked at her and knew she was lying. Not lying exactly. I detected deception. Her heartbeat was racing.
“Please?” she asked calmly but I caught it. She was practically begging. There was fear in her.
“Okay. I’ll come back with you.”
And find out what the hell is the problem. Maybe there was an armed robbery and I could take some people out.
Not that I go looking for that kind of thing.
Okay I go looking for that kind of thing. But come on. You get weird powers and see if you don’t want to have some fun every now and then. Especially since I was learning new things every day.
Like how to take a moving truck apart and pinch veins inside the bodies of other humans telepathically. This woman was up to something but no matter what I could handle it.
As I approached the back room her heart beat picked up. She opened the door and I walked through, prepared to kick the shit out of someone if I needed to.
Instead I walked into a room faced with five Chinese men in suits. They were smiling but made no move towards me.
Then I felt the pinch in my neck.
Whoever poked me with that needle from behind flew into the far wall. The others moved towards me and I sent them flying away.
I needed to get away. I turned and saw the woman who had brought me here had a gun pointed at my face.
The gun began shaking in her hand. I took her sight and tried to make myself invisible.
The gun stopped shaking.
She was looking at me.
I didn’t feel good. I couldn’t think. I was sleepy. What the hell did they do to me?
A bag was placed over my head and my heavy limbs didn’t resist when the cuffs went over my wrists.
Someone picked me up and I saw black.
Leah POV
“Agent Clearwater?”
My ear piece came alive. I was a bit surprised. I had been relaxing in the car in front of this nail salon. Hanging out in the parking lot listening to the radio seemed better than sitting next to my adulterous mother getting our toenails painted. I told Jason I would come. I didn’t say I would participate.
“Who the hell is this?”
“Patching Jason through. Go ahead Connolly.”
Who the fuck was this bitch?
“Leah get in there and take Bella Swan. Get her out of there. Now.”
Jason wasn’t fucking around. If he was asking me to do this it must be serious.
“By any means necessary?” I asked, our code for can I go wolf if I need to.
“Yep.”
Holy shit.
I ran, realizing halfway across the parking lot that I left my gun in the car. Racing in I saw the party, her friends, her future mother in law, her mother, my mother…
“Where the hell is Bella?”
Donna pointed towards the back.
“What’s wrong…” Donna started. I kept moving.
I ran towards the back and found a locked door. I ripped the door off its hinges and walked inside the room.
On the ground was a female body. About Bella’s size, same hair color. For a second I thought it was her.
On his knees next to the wall a man was packing cords and timers into what looked like plastic explosives. I hadn’t exactly caught up to date on explosives yet.
I see. Blow the place up, leave the body and make it look like Bella died in here.
The man hit me in the face. I stared at him. I needed to question him.
He tried to hit me again and I grabbed him by the neck and threw him through the wall into the main area. Walking out I saw the wedding party were all standing. It looked like a group of police had arrived. I pulled a badge out from my back pocket. I’m not sure which one it was. Luckily Jason arrived at the same time. Ty was behind him.
“Where is she Leah?”
“I was about to ask this asshole. He was wiring explosives in the back room next to the body of a dead girl.”
Ty looked up quickly.
“Not Bella Ty. I don’t know where she is. But he does.”
Jason felt for a pulse.
“He’s dead.”
“Dead?”
“You did throw him through a wall.” Jason pointed out.
Oops.
“Oh. My bad?”
“It’s okay. We will find her. Chloe are you there?”
“Where else would I be?”
“Give me every image you have of this place over the past ten minutes. Get an FBI team to process this place and let them know I will be taking over their field office. I’m going to need a tac team ready at my disposal on stand bye.”
“Anything else?”
“Yeah. The Chinese guys I wasn’t concerned about? Finding them is your number one priority now. Also I’m going to send you a couple files to access Bella Swan’s image. She has been taken and we are getting her back. Use every resource available. If you don’t have access to something let me know and you will have it. I want every airport, bus terminal, and train station locked down.”
I looked over and saw Ty had wandered into the back room and was staring at the dead girl on the ground.
I walked up behind him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Leah they was gonna blow this place up and kill everybody to make it look like she was dead. All so they could get her away without us knowing. I don’t understand how they got her.” Ty said in frustration.
“I do. We are going to get her back. Leah I need you to go to the FBI field office and make sure the head agent plays ball. Have them set me up an interrogation room. Ty you are coming with me.” Jason said walking up.
“Where we goin?” Ty said in a near whisper.
“Like I said, we are going to get her back. We don’t have much time. They are going to try to move fast so we have to move faster. You up for it or you want to sit this out? I can handle this on my own Ty.” Jason told him.
Ty’s face lost the look of shock he had been trying to hide. Instead I saw determination. Pissed off determination.
“Bullshit. Let’s ride cowboy.”
