How To Tell Your Imprint That She’s Your Imprint

Epilogue:
Ten years later…
Jared’s POV
We ended up buying a three-year-old Toyota Tacoma. Chief Swan, Mrs. Dwyer, and my parents both pitched in money towards it, and to this day, we still own it as our second vehicle. Life changed in many ways for all of us on the reservation.
We all stopped phasing around five years ago, but it wasn’t as easy to do as we thought it would be. Sometimes, our wolves would want to peek out, and physically and mentally, it hurt us to suppress him. Bella kept advising me to just let him come out and play; she didn’t think it was healthy for me to keep having to dig down deep and summon my willpower to hide my wolf all the time. “It’s a part of who you are, Jared. Why deny it?” she would say constantly.
Billy called Carlisle Cullen, and he confessed that Edward did, in fact, come back for Bella. He wasn’t her mate. She was his singer, someone whose blood called to him. Apparently, he wanted to keep her human so that he could have her scent around him constantly. Pretty sick if you ask me. My marking of Bella changed her scent considerably, and he was no longer interested in Bella. After going back and forth a few times, Carlisle Cullen agreed to dissolve the treaty and never return to the area again.
Charlie Swan married Tiffany Call two months after we graduated from high school. They now lived in his house in Forks. Embry and Jessica live in Tiffany’s house on the reservation. Embry still has no idea who his father is. When he asked his mother, she told him she had been passed out drunk at a party when she conceived him. Embry didn’t inquire any further after that. Jessica is a cop at the Forks Police Department, where Charlie remains Chief of Police.
Quil and Lauren were given their own house when he turned eighteen. They now have five boys and are expecting their sixth. As a result, Joy Ateara and Old Quil are being run ragged, having to babysit constantly. In fact, Old Quil started hitting Kim’s gym to get in shape and keep up with his great-grandsons. Quil runs an auto repair shop with Jake and Embry, while Lauren runs a beauty salon in Forks.
Jake and Kim got married as soon as he graduated. They have two kids and live in the house on the left of Billy Black’s home. Kim lost all her baby fat and now competes in women’s bodybuilding competitions. The chick has bigger muscles than all of the guys in the pack. Scary as all hell, if you ask me. Kim owns and operates a gym in Forks, which is extremely popular because she is super friendly and kind. Besides, a lot of people witnessed her transformation from a shy, pudgy girl to a confident, super fit woman. If that wasn’t a positive sales pitch, I had no idea what was.
Paul and Rachel moved back to La Push about five years ago. She delayed her return to Washington State University for a year. Meanwhile, after Paul finished one year at Peninsula College, he transferred to Washington State University for his bachelor’s degree. He’s an elementary school teacher at the tribal school while she teaches art and Quileute studies there. They have two kids and another on the way. They live in the house to the right of Billy Black.
Sam and Emily have two kids. They just moved back home after ten years in Seattle. He went back to college, then medical school, and is now the new ob/gyn at the tribal clinic in La Push. Emily is a homemaker.
Now, Bella and I have an incredible story. We finished two years at Peninsula College, then transferred to Oglala Lakota College on the Oglala Lakota Reservation in Kyle, South Dakota. Bella stuck out like a sore thumb there. There wasn’t a white person for miles. Her idea was to major in American Indian and Native American Studies. We were doing some genealogical research, and Bella discovered that she had Lakota blood on her mother’s and father’s sides. While we were researching, we found the college and discovered that tons of scholarships were available for anyone with Native American blood.
It took us over a year, but we were able to track down Bella’s Lakota heritage, which amounted to something like one-quarter of her entire bloodline when it was all combined. With that, she was granted tribal membership, and she could apply for many scholarships. Fortunately, I didn’t have anything to prove. When we did genealogical research on me, all we found were Quileutes for generations upon generations. I didn’t even have any Hoh or Makah ancestors anywhere in my line. My father told me I would screw up the family line by marrying Bella. He was joking, of course. He loved Bella as if she were his own daughter.
Bella and I got married pretty young, when we were both twenty. We did this to qualify for married student housing at Oglala Lakota College. Besides, we loved each other like crazy, and with the imprinting, we were never getting a divorce. So, we got married with the blessing of our parents and the entire pack. The shaman of the Quileute tribe, Old Quil, officiated our wedding on First Beach, and we had a huge bonfire and cookout in lieu of a fancy reception.
After earning our bachelor’s degrees, we went to law school at the University of South Dakota, specializing in American Indian Law. Three years later, after finishing law school and passing the bar in South Dakota, we moved back to La Push. We passed the bar in Washington and immediately opened up our own legal practice in La Push. We were running our practice out of the house that the tribal council gave to us, and we had just taken on a massive case involving tribal fishing rights in Alaska. This case could make or break us, so we put our all into the research and spent lots of time in Alaska.
I was just returning home from the gym, where Kim had just put me through the workout from hell. She sent me home with a high protein, low carb diet she swore by for pre-competition time. I told her that I only worked out to stay in shape. She insisted that I needed this diet to build up my muscle mass. Whatever.
“How was your workout, honey?” Bella asked as I walked into the house.
“Kim gave me some kind of new diet that she wants me to follow.”
“Just put it in the junk drawer along with the rest of her diets. They’re all a form of Keto anyway.”
“Okay. I’m hungry. What’s for dinner?”
“Shepherd’s Pie.”
“Oh, yum, my favorite.”
“Jared, you say that every night.”
“That’s cause everything you cook tastes really good.” I put my arms around her, and buried my nose into her neck, kissing the mark I gave her on prom night ten years ago.
Our doorbell rang all of a sudden, so I went to go see who it was. I opened it to find Embry standing there.
“What’s up, Embry?”
“Just here to tell you about your truck. You need new brakes and rotors.”
“How much is that going to run me?”
“Six hundred, but you can probably do it yourself.”
“Nah, just go ahead and do it. I don’t have the time. I’m working on that case in Alaska. We have to fly back there on Monday.”
“Are you sure? I can help you put them in.”
“Yeah, I’m sure.”
“Alright, I’ll throw in an oil change and new plugs for free.”
“Thanks, man.”
“Anytime.”
“Hey, you okay, Embry? You look kind of down in the dumps.”
“I’m fine. I’m definitely not sad. I’m just a little shocked, I guess.”
“About what?”
“This morning, when Jess was leaving for work, I heard two extra heartbeats.”
“Twins?”
“Yeah, I’m going to be a dad. I don’t think Jess knows she’s pregnant yet.”
“Congratulations, bro!”
“Thanks. So, when are you two going to start a family?”
“Not yet. We’re not even thirty. We’ve got plenty of time.”
“I know. That’s what I thought until this morning.” Then, he paused and smiled at me. “Alright, well, I’m going home and getting started on dinner. I shudder to think of my wife trying to cook something.”
“Me too,” I agreed.
Five years later…
Bella and I managed to win the tribal fishing rights case in Alaska two years ago. It had taken us three years of litigation for us to make it go our way, but we pulled it off. It was deemed a landmark case by the press, and now our practice was thriving so much that we had clients from up and down the west coast and even Hawaii. The BIA came knocking on our door, asking us for assistance in a case involving federal funding and tribal schools, so we were now concentrating on that.
This case was cool as all hell. It required us to travel to various reservations up and down the western United States to do our research, all on the BIA’s tab. Right now, we are on a Navajo Reservation in Arizona. The tribal elders had invited us to a ceremony where a shaman blessed everyone. He stopped in front of Bella and me, whispered some words in the Diné language, and had us drink something. We just went with the flow without questioning it. In English, he ended his ritual by saying, “You are a great and mighty wolf, brown one. You should never suppress him. May you be blessed with a hundred sons.”
How did he know that I was a wolf? And a brown wolf? And hell, I don’t want a hundred sons. That’s too many. A couple of hours later, we returned to our hotel room. Whatever potion he gave us must have taken effect because all I wanted to do was fuck my wife over and over again.
“What the heck did that shaman give us?” Bella asked as she dropped down to plant kisses on my stomach.
“I don’t know, baby, but climb onto my cock. I need to be inside of you. She slid down onto me and fixed her beautiful eyes on me. I was utterly entranced and mesmerized by her. Over and over again, my cock hit her core. Her breasts bounced up and down and shook as they fell back into place with each descent.
Suddenly, I felt my wolf talking over me for the first time in over a decade. I growled at her and flipped her onto her knees. I licked her from her pussy straight up her back and started sucking on the mark I gave her years ago at the prom. That mark drove her insane with lust whenever I touched it.
“J… J… Jared… ah… ah… need… need… inside…” she panted.
I thrust inside her and started pounding in and out of her hard. Over and over again, I rammed into her pussy. What the hell is going on? I’ve never been this rough with my imprint.
I wrapped her long locks around my hand and pulled her back towards me. I nuzzled her mark with my nose. I had to be close to it. I had no idea why.
Bella met me thrust for thrust. She squealed each time my cock hit her core. The friction caused by her walls against my cock made me moan relentlessly.
“ Take her, bite her!” my inner wolf urged me. Each thrust brought me closer to home. I quickened my pace, groping her tits and pinching her nipples. She yelped in pleasure as I moved my free hand down to her clit and stroked it with my thumb.
“Oh… Jared… please… please…”
“Cum, baby,” I ordered, and she shuddered and started pulsating all over my cock. I pumped into her pussy faster, desperately needing to release. Bella didn’t even have a chance to come down from her peak when she hit her second orgasm just as I blasted my load inside her.
“ Bite her, now!” my wolf ordered.
I exposed her mark and sunk my teeth into her flesh in the exact same spot as my previous mark. I released my scent into her, and we both moaned at the erotic feeling of our bond tightening. Bella clenched down on me for her third orgasm, which sent my still-hard dick into a frenzy. I pumped into her, my teeth still attached to her, and in no time, I was orgasming inside of her again. After I released more of my scent into her, I finally unlatched my teeth and started licking her wound.
“Bella, I need to phase. And you have to come with me. Don’t ask me why because I don’t know the reason. I just know that you need to come with me.”
“Okay,” she said, throwing on her jeans and a t-shirt. I got dressed too. We drove out into the desert behind the Navajo Reservation. I took my clothes off and phased for the first time in over a decade. I knelt down on my haunches and tried to communicate to Bella to get on my back. She understood instantly and climbed on top of me, wrapping her arms around my neck.
“ Jared, I’ve never told you this, but you’re an extremely pretty wolf.”
Pretty? What the hell? Handsome, yes, but pretty?
“ Okay, maybe not pretty. It hurts your manly pride, doesn’t it? How about rugged or devastating?”
I wagged my tail to show her that I liked that. Bella stroked my fur gently. We walked through the desert with her whispering in my ear.
“I’m glad you finally decided to show your wolf, Jared. It couldn’t possibly be healthy for you to continue suppressing him. You were constantly in pain, which you should never have to live with.”
I stopped at a lone Yucca tree in the middle of the vast desert and looked into her eyes. Each time I looked into her eyes; it was like the initial imprint was happening again.
“ Did I ever tell you how happy I am with you? We’ve built this beautiful life together, and I go to sleep each night wrapped up in your arms and looking forward to what the next day will bring. Only you can make me feel that way, Jared. Only you can make me feel so complete.”
I phased back to human form and looked into my imprint’s eyes. “You complete me, too, Bella,” I whispered. I pulled her into my arms and held her for the longest time. We made love underneath the Yucca tree. Just my mate and me. And when the sun started peeking through, I ran through the desert with Bella in my arms, back towards our rental car.
We ran into the shaman from last night about halfway there. He stood before us and spoke, “You listened to your instincts and became one with your wolf. Your bond with your mate is eternally secure, now and forevermore. You must never deny your wolf, for your wolf is a part of who you are.”
“How did you know I was a wolf?” I asked, curiously.
“If I could explain all of life’s mysteries to you, I would; unfortunately, I can’t because I don’t have all the answers. The answer just came to me during the ceremony.”
Okay, but still… how did he know?
“Don’t dwell on the great unknown, Mighty Brown Wolf, for you will never find the answers to your questions. All you need to know is that you and your mate will travel hand-in-hand, together, on the spiritual journey called life.”
“Thank you, sir.”
“And don’t call me, sir. It makes me feel old.”
Bella smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
“I like your mate’s way of thanking me better.”
Okay, whatever floats his boat. I shrugged my shoulders and kissed him on the cheek, too.
He looked up at me, aghast. “You may continue to call me Sir.”
We went our separate ways after that. Bella and I slept for a few more hours, then made our way to other reservations.
Thirty-nine and a half weeks later…
“Honey, are you sure you don’t want an epidural?” Tiffany asked Bella desperately from her bedside as my wife grunted in pain.
“No!” Renee stated. “Natural childbirth is healthier for the baby.”
“No…” Bella grunted. “I’ll try to breathe through this.”
My mother, who naturally had six kids, agreed with her. She and my dad had their final son, a complete surprise, while Bella and I were in our junior year of college. It was a time of great fertility for the old folks because during that same year, Tiffany Swan gave birth to Charlie’s son, and Renee and Phil also had a son.
“Bella, breathe. Try to stay calm,” my mother said soothingly.
“How are we doing in here?” Sam came into the room to check on Bella. “You’re fully effaced and dilated. Let’s get the show on the road.”
My mother helped to position Bella.
“What should I do, Mom?”
“Just shut up and hold her hand. You’re the one who did this to her,” she snapped. She and my two mothers-in-law glared at me as if I was solely responsible for a woman’s pain in childbirth.
“Bella, reach down, pull back on your thighs, and bear down,” Sam instructed.
“I can’t. It’s too hard!”
“Yes, you can, baby. You can do it. We’ve all done it,” Renee cooed. “Besides, if I didn’t do it, you wouldn’t be here.”
Bella tried to push but kept bursting out into tears. “How can something hurt so much?”
“Alright, calm down, Bella. Take a deep breath.” I saw Sam insert two fingers into Bella. If he weren’t her ob/gyn, I’d be murdering him here and now. “Push my fingers out,” he instructed.
Bella did as she was told.
“Keep pushing just like you did,” he encouraged. Finally, we all started counting to ten.
We did this over and over again until the baby’s head finally started crowning. After that, Bella was intermittently pushing and crying and pushing and screaming.
She kept pushing, and we kept counting. Finally, Sam instructed her to blow air out in small, intermittent pants, when the head was finally out. The baby was bright blue. He calmly moved the umbilical cord away from the baby’s neck. Now I was freaking out. I’m no doctor, but I know babies shouldn’t be blue.
“Okay, we’re going to start pushing again, and this time I want you to make it a big one, Bella.”
And, so, she pushed, and we counted. The baby’s shoulders slipped out, and suddenly I heard music to my ears with a big, “Waaaagh!”
Our mothers all burst into applause, and there were tears of joy all around. Sam motioned me over and let me cut the umbilical cord. He did a quick check of the baby before handing our infant to Bella.
My mother helped our baby latch onto my wife’s breast while Sam finished up. I sat next to Bella, put my arm around her, and watched while our little miracle fed.
Twenty minutes later, I wheeled the bassinet to the packed waiting room. Our family and the entire pack were here, their imprints and their kids.
“Well? Did you have a boy or a girl?” my father questioned.
“A boy,” I chortled happily.
“And what did you name him?” Charlie asked.
“Jeffrey. The name kind of grew on us.”
“Well, I think Jeffrey is a fine name. I think Bella used to date a kid named Jeffrey during high school.” My father-in-law grinned and winked at me.
Everyone in the waiting room broke out in chuckles. And I looked on as our son was passed around to everyone. Each person gazed at him with nothing but love in their eyes. This child would never, ever know what it’s like to not be loved.
Five years later…
“Daddy, can you tie my shoes? Mommy said she can’t reach down anymore.” Bella was pregnant with our third child and due any day now.
“Sure, son,” I said, leaning down to double-knot his shoes for him. “Are you ready for your first day of school?”
“No, everyone says that school sucks!”
“Jeffrey, who told you that?” Bella asked.
“The Quils.”
Quil gave each of his ten sons the middle name Quil in his infinite wisdom. That way, he figured, he wouldn’t have to remember their first names, and if he called out the name Quil, one of his sons would come running to him. So, collectively, we called all of his sons, The Quils because how the hell were we supposed to remember ten different first names?
“Ignore them, son. School is what you make of it. Personally, I found some of the lessons fun,” I said encouragingly. I popped our two-year-old son Junior into the stroller, and we all started trekking to the tribal school for Jeffrey’s first day in kindergarten.
Along the way, we ran into some Quils rushing to school. “Hi, Uncle Jared, Auntie Bella,” they called as they passed us. They were a really polite, friendly lot.
Sam and Emily caught up with us, and joined our slow procession to the tribal school. Their third and final child, Winston, was starting school today, too.
“I can’t believe they’re starting school already,” Sam said. “It seems just like yesterday that we were still students here.”
“Yeah, I know, but things have changed. Who would have ever believed that Paul would be teaching here?”
“I know, right?” he chuckled as he yanked apart one of the older Quils and his eldest daughter Maris who was in a lip lock in front of the tribal store. “Be glad you don’t have this shit to deal with.”
Thank God we’ve only had sons so far. I wouldn’t want to deal with my kids being involved with one of the Quils. Speak of the devil. Here he comes.
“What’s up, guys?” Quil asked. He had a baby in a front carrier, another in a backpack carrier, and two of his little ones clinging to his legs. “Hey, why are you dragging my son by the ear, Sam?”
“His lips were where they shouldn’t be,” Sam growled as he dragged Quil’s son to school along with us.
“Why? Was he blowing a dude or something?”
Our eyes widened, and we covered our kids’ ears with our hands.
“Quil!” I chastised. “We’ve got little, innocent ears around here.”
“He was kissing my Maris,” Sam growled.
“Oh, I caught them doing more than just kissing the other night,” Quil said, chuckling.
“Owww!” the Quil who was being dragged shrieked as Sam twisted his ear.
“Maris!” Emily gasped, shocked.
“Mom, Quil swore it would cure my acne.”
“We’ll talk about this later!” Sam shouted.
“Why is your dad so mad, Winston?” Jeffrey asked.
“Daddy is always mad at Maris because she keeps kissing all the boys and giving them cooties. All girls have cooties, you know?”
“Gee, Winston, when we get to school, what will we do if we have to sit next to a girl? What if we catch her cooties?”
“Don’t worry, my daddy is a doctor. He can cure the cooties.”
“I’m not so sure, Winston. If your dad is such a good doctor, why does your sister have the cooties?”
Ah… my Jeffrey, already thinking like a lawyer. Maybe he’ll go to Harvard or Yale and become president of the United States?
And with dreams of the future swirling in my brain, I turned to Bella, smiled, and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. “I’m sure glad you’re my imprint,” I told her.
“Heck, I’m glad I finally figured out you were my imprint,” Bella said, “otherwise, you would have still been figuring out a way to tell me.”
Okay, so I never exactly told her she was my imprint. She figured it out for herself. Who cares? The job was completed. And you know something else? Even though the moment wasn’t exactly how I imagined it to be, that imperfection made it… well… perfect. And that’s all that mattered in the end.
I put one arm around my imprint as we continued our walk to the tribal school. Glancing at my family and my friends, I realized I was living my happily ever after.
The End.
