She’s So Gone

Chapter 22:

The day flew by and soon enough Izzy was at home getting ready to head to the pizza shop to hang out with the Misfits. She thought the name was fitting. As they didn’t seem to really fit in with the others around them. Sure they were popular and respected but they didn’t hang out with the popular cheerleader and jocks like the others did. Again she was over analyzing things. She was just hoping that the others liked her as much as Rose and Jasper seemed to.

She could hear them playing from where she parked outside the shop. It was the song that Edward did at the showcase. She remember how nervous he looked up there. As she entered the store she looked around and found a booth in the corner of the shop was empty. She made her way over and took a seat. Soon a waiter came by and took her order.

“And what can I get for ya?”

“I’ll just take a lemonade for now.”

“Anything else?” he smiled at her.

“Not yet. I’m meeting some friends.”

“Okay.”

The boy left after winking at her. Izzy giggled and shook her head. This was gonna be interesting. When the waiter came back he placed her drink on the table infront of her with a folded napkin. When he walked away she unfolded it to find he had written something there.

Name’s Jacob. Call me 555-5105.

Izzy chuckled again. She couldn’t wait to tell Rose. She watched the band as they finished up the set. Once the song ended Edward spoke over the applause.

“We’re gonna take a break and be back in half an hour. Thanks for coming out.”

Izzy smiled as she saw the others unhooking their instruments. As they stepped off the stage she could see them looking around for her. She was about to stand and wave them over when Jasper locked eyes with her. He tapped Rose on the shoulder and said something to her causing her to look over where Izzy was. Rose smiled and motioned for the others to follow her. As they came to the table and all found seats Izzy spoke.

“You guys were great. Edward you did well this time. You didn’t seem as nervous.”

Edward smiled.

“Yeah It was easier this time after rehearsing the song more. Last time we were more rushed, I didn’t have the prep time like I did now.”

“I’m glad. I really enjoyed the song.”

“Thanks.” Edward said and blushed.

“Izzy stop embrasing Eddie.” Emmett chuckled.

“Sorry Edward.”

“It’s okay Izzy.”

The same waiter came back to the table then. He noticed the band all sitting there and seemed to have paled.

“Oh so these are the friends you were waiting for?”

“Yes.”

“Okay so what can i get you guys?”

“We’ll take the usual Jake. Thanks.” Rose said.

As he walked away Izzy thought she heard him say “shit”. She giggled. Rose looked at Izzy.

“What was that all about?” Rose asked.

Izzy slid her the napkin discretely under the table. Rose looked down and giggled. She shook her head and smiled up at Izzy. They both started giggling.

“Okay I know I’m probably not gonna get a straight answer from either of you but I have to ask. What are you two giggling about now?” Emmett asked.

He was right. The girls started laughing louder now. Alice quirked a brow and slid closer to Izzy on her other side as the girls all sat on one side while the guys were on the other. Rose slid the napkin across Izzy lap into Alice’s hand while Izzy sipped from her lemonade acting like nothing was going on. Alice looked at the napkin and started giggling. Now all three guys were looking at them like they had lost all their senses.

“Oh Alice not you too!” Edward seemed scared. He wasn’t sure what the girls were up to but it couldn’t be good if they were now including Alice in on it.

“Sorry Edward.” Alice tried to sound sincere but her giggles made it almost impossible.

“Are you gonna tell us?” Emmett asked.

Just then Jake came back with their order. The girls all started giggling again. He placed the order down and turned quickly to leave.

“I’m guessing Emmett that that is a no.” Edward said.

Jasper just seemed to watch as this all unfolded. He wasn’t sure what was going on but he knew it had to do with Izzy.

The gang spent the next half hour talking and laughing. Izzy couldn’t remember a time she had had so much fun. The guys were hilarious as they joked around and told stories of things they all did growing up. The girls would chuckle and snicker then add parts that the boys left out. Usually it was those parts that would cause Izzy to laugh the hardest. She felt right being here with them. When it was time for them to head back up, Alice asked..

“Are you staying till we finish?”

“I guess so.”

“goody” Aliced replied with a smile.

“See you when your done.” Izzy said and watched as they band made their way back to the stage.

Izzy decided to call her dad and let him know she was gonna hang out till the band was done. She made her way to the payphone by the order counter. After telling him, he told her he had to work early the next the day and if she wanted to ask Rose and Alice to stay with her over night that he was okay with that. Izzy thanked him and hung up. She turned to head back to the table, only to be stopped by Jacob.

“So you know the band?”

“Yeah we go to school together.”

“Are you seeing anyone?”

“No, and I’m not looking to either.”

“I was just asking. If you change your mind you have my number.” he said running his hand down her arm. Izzy shivered slightly in disgust. He must have seen it and taken it the wrong way, cause he smiled at her before walking back behind the counter. As she made her way back to the table she could feel eyes on her. One causing the familar warmth to spread through her. Jasper. The other made her skin crawl. Jacob. Izzy wondered how she had gone from being invisible to having people notice her? She shook off the creepy feeling and sat back down. The rest of the night passed quickly. Soon enough the band was finished and Rose and Alice made their way quickly over to Izzy.

“What the hell was that with Jake?” Rose asked.

“Yeah. Jasper actually missed two beats before he righted himself.” Alice said.

The three girls looked over to see the guys at the counter paying for the pizza.

“You know i could have paid that myself?” Izzy said.

“Yeah we know but we get a discount since we technically work here. So why spend extra money on something you could get for half off?” Alice said.

“Okay.” Izzy wasn’t gonna argue. Saving money was something she knew about all to well.

“So back to Jake?” Rose asked.

“I don’t honestly know. I came in and sat down, he took my drink order and asked if their was anything else. I told him not at the moment as i was waiting for friends. I think he figured I was waiting for girlfriends. He seemed rather disappointed when he came back and saw you guys sitting here. Then I went to call my dad and tell him i was hanging out till you all finished up. Which by the way dad said if y’all wanted to spend the night you could since he works an early shift tomorrow.”

“That’s great. Now stop changing the subject.” Rose said.

“Okay so i was getting off the phone, i turned to come back to the table and there he was. He asked how i knew you guys and i told him we go to school together. Then he asked if I was seeing anyone. I told him no and that i wasn’t looking to. He said if I changed my mind that i have his number. He ran his hand down my arm. It made me shiver. He gives me the creeps by the way. He must have taken as a good thing and smiled before he left. I could feel him watching me as i walked back here.”

“Jasper must have seen him touch you. That is what made him miss the drum beat.” Alice said.

The girls all looked at each other then over to the boys who were now headed their way. Emmett and Edward looked worried, and Jasper looked livid. As the boys approached Jasper came right up to Izzy.

“You okay Izzy?” he asked looking her over and rubbing his hand down the same arm Jacob had. Jasper’s touch was different. Warm and soothing.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Was that creep bothering you Iz. Cause if he was I’ll go over there and set him straight.” Emmett said.

“It’s fine guys. No big deal, let’s just get out of here.” Izzy said trying to sooth the savages. It didn’t seem to be working. Rose seemed to notice the pleading look on Izzy’s face and stepped in.

“Come on guys let’s go. It’s been a long week and i just wanna get some rest.”

“Okay Rose.” Emmett said. Moving to stand slightly behind her, blocking her from view of the crowded dinning area.

“Yeah let’s go.” Alice chirped grabbing Edward by the arm and leading him toward the door.

The rest followed closely. Jasper stayed close to Izzy as they walked. He seemed to be looking everywhere as if Jacob would come out of nowhere and snatch her. As they made it to where Emmett’s jeep was parked they all stopped and seemed to sigh a breath of relief.

“So I guess we will see you on Monday Iz.” Emmett said. He was trying to usher Rose into the front seat. Rose smiled but stepped back next to Izzy.

“Actually Alice and I are staying at Izzy’s this weekend…isn’t that right Alice?” Rose said.

“Yep.” Alice said popping the ‘P’. “Izzy’s dad said it was okay seeing as he has to work early shifts all weekend.”

Izzy caught what the girls were doing and fell into step with them.

“It’s gonna be loads of fun. Pillow fights and make-overs, movies and gossip.” Izzy giggled.

“Okay then…Where you parked Izzy?” Edward asked, taking the hint that the guys were no longer needed.

“Just over there. Would you be of so kind as to escort us Edward?” Izzy asked all sweet and smiley.

“It would be my pleasure.” Edward said holding out his arms to the girls. Izzy took one side as Alice squirmed under his other side so his arm was around her shoulders. Rose shook her head and laced her hand through Izzy’s arm.

Izzy glanced back over her shoulder to find Emmett and Jasper staring like guppies. She nudged Rose who looked and laughed. This was gonna be interesting.

“Thank you Edward.” Izzy said kissing his cheek as they got to her car.

“No p..problem Izzy.” Edward stuttered alittle.

“Yes thank you Edward.” Rose said kissing his other cheek.

Edward was a bright crimson by now. He simply just nodded his head to stunned to speak. Alice came around his front and wrapped her arms around his torso.

“Thank you baby. That was very sweet of you to escort us to Izzy’s car so nothing would happen to us.” Alice said before placing a soft kiss on his lips. “I’ll call you tomorrow.” With that Edward turned and headed back toward the still very statuesque duo.

The girls climbed in the car. Alice in the back and Rose took shotgun as Izzy started the car.

“You know we may have just doomed him to the firing squad right?” Rose asked.

“Yeah but it was well worth it to see the looks on their faces.” Izzy smiled.

“I promise i will kiss all his wounds when they finish with him. I was worth it though.” Alice giggled from the back seat. The girls all waved to the guys as they pulled out. Leaving the three boys still standing next to Emmett’s jeep.
