She’s So Gone
By Midnight Dreamer

Chapter 02:
Bella’s friendship with Zavier was rocky at first. Zaviers’ friends would abuse him about befriending the “ghost” as they liked to call her, but Zavier would stand up to them and defend her. They got to know each other rather well. Soon she was just another fixture in his group; always by his side and still as silent as ever. She wouldn’t talk to the others. She would answer his questions with as little verbal communication as possible.
The end of the school year was fast approaching. Zavier, being a senior was preparing for prom and graduation, so when he asked Isabella to be his date to prom she almost passed out. She was only a sophomore, and that type of thing just didn’t happen. The school hierarchy frowned upon it. Seeing as Zavier was at the top of said hierarchy though, no one said anything.
The night of prom came, and Isabella was excited. She and her mom spent days shopping for her dress. She settled on a spaghetti strapped corset type knee length gown. It was emerald green, and beads covered both the straps and the bodice. The skirt was tulle and layered so that when she would twirl, it would appear to float around her. She looked beautiful. Everything seemed to be perfect, but as most things perfection doesn’t last forever.
They danced and laughed, then danced some more. When the time came to announce the prom king and queen, Zavier of course was crowned king. Isabella expected Marsha to be crowned queen; after all she was the head of the cheerleading squad, so when they called her name she thought she’d heard wrong. When she looked up; Zavier stood there with a smile on his face and his hand held out to help her up the stairs. She took it, but she was still nervous. She got that feeling in her gut that something was wrong. The principle handed her a bouquet of roses and placed the sparkling crown on her head while she kept her eyes to the floor. She still didn’t like being the center of attention. When someone called her name, she looked up and into the face of one of the boys from the school paper. Zavier moved closer to her and they posed to have their picture taken.
Just as the flash went off; Isabella screamed. When she looked down on herself she saw that she was covered in a sticky syrup. Her dress was ruined; her perfect night was ruined. She felt betrayed, used. They had taken her shyness and gullibility and made her the brunt of a cruel joke. She threw the flowers down and ran from the stage amidst their laughter. Only Zavier wasn’t laughing. He was calling her name and chasing after her, but Isabella was too fast for him to catch up to.
Isabella cried herself to sleep that night while her mother held her tightly. The next day Isabella went back to school, returning to her previous state of invisibility. She would dodge and avoid Zavier at every turn.
The next two weeks passed quickly and graduation was upon them. Isabella had managed to remain invisible. The ceremonies went off with out a problem and Zavier was now on his way to whatever summer vacation his parents had set up. Isabella’s mom decided that she need a break as well; a change of scenery and some well needed relaxation. After discussing options for a while, they came to the agreement that she would go stay with her father. So she packed her bags and a few extra personal belongings and was off.
