She’s So Gone

Chapter 08:

The first day of school term had arrived. Izzy was up, showered, and dressed by 6:30. Charlie stumbled down the stairs to see her making breakfast.

“Morning kiddo. your up early?”

Izzy simply nodded. She spun around long enough to hand him a cup of coffee before turning back to the stove. after plating up the waffles, bacon, and eggs she had been working on, she sat a plate in front of Charlie and took her own seat.

“Wow kid this is good.” Charlie said around a mouthful of eggs.

Izzy hummed in response. After they finished Charlie went to shower, while Izzy cleaned up. By the time Charlie came down Izzy was already stuffing the last of her books into her bag.

“You ready for this Izzy?”

“You’re never ready for your first day at a new school, let alone the first day of a new semester. I’ll deal.”

“If your sure. You gonna drive or do you want me to drop you off today?”

“Could you drop me? I have to have a parking pass to park in the student lot so I’ll have to fill out a form for one at the main office when i get there.”

“No problem. You ready?”

“As i can get.”

“Well let’s go then.”

Izzy and Charlie left out the door, locking it behind them. They slid into Charlie’s truck and made their way to the school. Dropping Izzy off at the front office they noticed there weren’t many students milling around just yet out front, but that didn’t mean they weren’t hanging out on the quad.
“I’ll see you later kid. Try not to get into any trouble.” Charlie teased.

“You know me dad, I’m nothing but trouble.” Izzy giggled.

She leaned across the seat and kissed his cheek before heading into the office to get her parking pass for the rest of the year. She filled out the needed forms and paid the fee. With a smile and a wave to the secretary she headed back out the doors.

Moving around the side of the building her first thoughts were correct; the quad was full of her fellow classmates. You could already see how the hierarchy of this school worked. The cliques were all in separate little pods all around the area. The Jocks in the back by building 4, the Artsy people by building 6, the Science geeks by building 1, the Mathaletes by building 2. Since Izzy was yet to fit into any of the pre-ordained groups she found a quiet table behind the Main office building to sit at till it was time to head to home room.

Sitting back and people watching was a favorite hobby of Izzy’s, so that was what she did. Watching each group one at a time to pick out the different personalities of the individuals that composed the group would help her to decide if any may be worth attempting to befriend. She was noticing that many were very much the same as those she had previously attended school with, so there wasn’t much of a pool of candidates to choose from.

The quad suddenly grew quiet. Izzy wasn’t sure what happened until she looked around and noticed a group of teens around her age stepping onto the quad from the student lot. The five seemed to get everyone’s attention. Taking the time to assess each of these students she found out why. These were the popular kids. The upper tier of the student hierarchy, the rich, beautiful people that no one can match.

Amongst the group Izzy noticed was a small dark haired girl with fairy type features. Izzy thought she would call her Tink. Standing next to Tink was a tall boy around 6 ft. He had the oddest colored hair, she decided to call him Pan, as it seemed he was with the one she now referred to as Tink. Slightly behind them had to be the most beautiful girl Izzy had ever laid eyes on. The tall statuesque blond seemed ethereal, Izzy decided then to call her Aphrodite. Next to her was a very large boy. He seemed larger then life and had a smile that could light up the darkest room. She also noticed he was very ape like in stature. Long arms, broad chest, and thin waist flowing out into very muscular legs. From here forth she would call him Link. you know like missing link.

The last to enter the field was the one that made her breath catch in her throat. It was the boy from the music shop. The one with the eyes that could see through her mask. With a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, she knew she would be in serious trouble. A quick look around she saw that every girl in the school had a puddle of drool a foot deep and a mile wide in front of them…He would be Casanova.
