Chapter 20:

The next couple of days seemed to fly by. It was like the whole showcase had never happened. It wasn’t until Friday at lunch did things change. Izzy and Rose were sat at their table when Alice approached Izzy.

“Izzy can I talk to you?” Alice asked.

Izzy looked worried. She looked to Rose who smiled and nodded. Izzy took a deep breath and nodded.

“Sure Alice.”

“I’ll just go talk with the guys and give you two some privacy.” Rose said standing from the table and heading in the direction of the guys.

“So Alice what is it you wanna talk about?” Izzy asked bracing herself for the worst.

“I’m sorry.”

Izzy’s head snapped up to meet Alice’s face. She wasn’t sure she heard correctly.

“What?”

“I’m sorry. I know I have been acting like a real bitch toward you and for that I’m sorry.”

“Can I ask why?”

“I was jealous.”

“Of me?”

“Yeah.”

“Why?” that seemed to be the word of the day for Izzy.

“Well i used to have this crush on Jasper. Or atleast i thought it was Jasper that i had a crush on…Rose told me somethings that i didn’t know, and i realized that i was crushing on the wrong guy. Here i had the right guy all along.”

“Edward?”

“Yeah it seems that what i thought was happening was really not.”

“What was happening?”

“Well…I kept getting all these notes, and flowers, and songs in my locker. It was really sweet. The only people i ever saw standing near my locker were Jasper and Emmett, but i’ve always known that Emmett has a thing for Rose so i simply ruled him out. That only left Jasper. What I didn’t know was that they were hiding Edward.”

“I could see how they could do that.”

“Yeah they are really tall.”

“and?”

“Well Rose pulled me aside last sunday and talked to me. She explained about some guy code, and that it was really Edward doing all these things for me. Boy did i feel like an ass.”

“So you were jealous cause…”

“I asked Jasper out last year and he turned me down. Not that it’s really surprising or anything, he turns everyone down. But then you came into town. He saw you. I mean really saw you. Not the “oh hey we go to school together saw you, but saw you as in he wanted to get to know you. I got jealous cause like i said i thought it was him sending me those things. It stung that you got his attention when no one else seems to even be a blip on his radar.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Oh Izzy you have nothing to be sorry for. I’m okay with it. I have my prince charming. I had him all along, it just took Rose slapping me out of my idiocy to realize what was there all the time. I asked Edward about it and he told me the whole story. Now everything is better then ever.”

“Thank you…i think?”

“Your welcome. I hope you can forgive me and we can start over.”

“I think that would be great.”

“Great. Now i have to get back to Edward. That and i can feel the daggers glaring into the back of my head. I’m sure Jasper looks livid, thinking I’m over here causing trouble.”

“Why would he think that?”

“I think he has a crush on you Izzy.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah. Well go easy on him. He’s fragile.” Alice giggled.

“Okay. Now can i ask you something?”

“Sure?”

“How long has this dance between Emmett and Rose been going on?”

“You see it too huh. Well I’m not completely sure but i think it started in third grade when Rose beat the shit out of this kid who was pickin on Emmett.”

“Are you serious? Have you seen Emmett?”

“Emmett wasn’t always the monster he is today. He used to be this tiny little stick thing. Then he started playing sports and spending summers with our grandparents on their farm. He bulked up and grew. Once high school hit he was like he is now.”

“Wow. So Rose came to his rescue. Who would have ever thought that Emmett would be the damsel in distress?” Izzy giggled.

“I never looked at it that way but yeah.” Alice giggled also.

Izzy glanced over at the table where the others were sitting and sure enough Jasper was glaring over their way and Rose was chatting with Edward and Emmett.

“I think it best if you head back now Alice. If looks could kill I’m sure you’d be dead right now.” Izzy said turning back to Alice.

“Yeah I know. He means well, really he does.”

“I guess.”

“Give him a chance Izzy. I’m sure he will surprise us all.”

“I don’t think he has Rose fooled at all. She seems to see things that no one else does.”

“Yeah except that Emmett is maddly in love with her.”

The girls laughed as Alice stood to head back over to the other table.

“Later Izzy.”

“Bye Alice.”

Rose smiled and hugged Alice when they met half way. Izzy smiled also. Her dad was right. She should give them all a chance. Maybe this was the place she was meant to be all along.
